Upon graduation in 2005 my career began, I was extremely lucky that I already had a job upon leaving College. It was in a brand new show called Strictly Ballroom that was to be touring around the UK Starring Lionel Blair and Jane McDonald.
Over the course of the year the show changed its name to Simply Ballroom and it was commissioned to go to Las Vegas to open the brand new Showroom at the Golden Nugget where Frank Sinatra was famous for performing. I was promoted to Principal Dancer so I packed my bags and I was resident in Las Vegas for 10 months! What an experience! It was there that I got to work and find a friend in the witty and charming Noel Sullivan.
I had been back in the UK two weeks and within that time I had managed to secure myself my first agent and be successful in my first audition for the West End hit ‘Dirty Dancing’. My role was to be a swing and have the responsibility of being dance captain which meant having to maintain the level of the choreography in the show, rehearsing new cast members and taking auditions! I stayed in the show for two years and had a wonderful time.
On leaving I decided to change agents to Hall James Personal Management as well as take a break and study for a NVQ in beauty therapy, however that was cut short when I landed my dream role in the new Latin musical ‘Sacred Flame’ with choreography by Arlene Phillips and Karen Bruce. Unfortunately the show was postponed two weeks before rehearsals were due to start so it never happened. However at the same time I had also been auditioning for Grease which was playing at the Piccadilly Theatre in the West End and I managed to land the dream role of ChaCha with none other than the gorgeous Noel Sullivan as my Danny Zuko. So now thats two shows and counting… I stayed at Grease for a year and loved every minute!
Alongside my work in the West End I also found time to dance for the lovely Cheryl Cole for her song Parachute, film a TV advert/photo shoot for Andre Rieu most recent album ‘Forever Vienna’ and dance with my brother for a slot with Arlene Phillips on ‘The One show’.
